Archery

Archery enjoys a great popularity and is a wonderful sport that can be exercised in the middle of a breathtaking nature.

At the Sölkpass next to the Kreuzer alpine cabin a 3D archery-site is located offering you over 30 different 3D-animal-dummies and a training site.

Cycling and mountain biking

Many various cycle and mountain bike routes provide a variety of options for rookies, pro’s or even hobby-cyclists.

One of the best-known cycle tracks is the so called Mur-cycle track which leads from Tamsweg along the river Mur to Slovenia.

Golf Murau-Kreischberg

Nestling between the ski region Kreischberg and the city of Murau – 10 km distant and 15 minutes journey time by car – a 18 hole golf course offers special treat to all golfers.

The golf course is seated in the middle of the Holzwelt Murau and includes a lot of specific and distinctive items of timber design like timber fences around ponds, an age-old alpine cabin as halfway station and a 300 year old farmhouse that was revitalised as a greenkeeper station.

Fishing

Besides the river Mur with its beautiful upper reaches a plurality of streaming waters, ponds and lakes are waiting to be discovered.

Riding

Schöder is known for its affinity to horses. Hence you can book a horse drawn carriage ride all season or go for a ride on a horse in the countryside of the Katschtal.

Every year in July the historic Sölkpass-horse-hike takes place. In August you can be part of the famous horse market that attracts horse-enthusiasts from all over Austria to come together in Schöder. A special highlight for kids is the children’s party during the horse market.

Motorcycle routes

At the time of the Roman Empire the Sölkpass was already a trade road over the Alps connecting two valleys of the rivers Mur and Enns. Nowadays it is a mountain pass favoured by numerous motorcyclists that leads through the Sölktaler nature park.

Even aside the arterial routes there are plenty of trips on roads through the Alps that will invite you to stop and pause for a moment to admire the rural environment and take a deep breath of fresh, clean air.
